Discrimination
Texas and federal laws prohibit employers from discriminating against employees based on their: race, gender, religion, national origin, pregnancy, color, age over 40 and disability. Therefore, it is illegal for an employer to terminate, fail to promote or hire, or otherwise subject employees to unequal pay or treatment on these bases.
The federal government and the State of Texas have agencies that enforce these types of discrimination laws. Before a lawsuit can be filed on your behalf, a charge of discrimination must be filed with either the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or the Texas Workforce Commission-Civil Rights Division. Time limitations apply to these charges of discrimination. Our office can assist you with the charge process and your ultimate lawsuit. Please contact our office so we may evaluate your circumstances.
